iphone_6_nfc_board_bothSo we have been hearing a lot of rumors regarding the iPhone 6 and NFC, and how NFC could be used in the iPhone to help facilitate mobile payments, a feature which Apple has reportedly been working on for a while now. Leaked schematics and images of the iPhone 6’s logic board have all but confirmed the feature.

Well now according to a post by famed Apple blogger, John Gruber, he seems to hint at the possibility of the iPhone 6 sporting NFC technology as well as Apple launching their mobile payments system.

According to Gruber’s post, “I’ve been working on a new joke — about NFC and a new secure enclave where you can store your credit cards, so you can pay for things at brick and mortar retail stores just by taking out your iPhone, but only if it’s one of the new iPhones — but no one seems to get my sense of humor.”

Considering that Gruber has some connections at Apple, it is possible that there is some truth to his claims, but either way we’ll have to keep our eyes peeled for more information. Apple has been notorious for refusing to adopt certain features that Android OEMs have been quick to latch onto.

Over the years there have been talks about NFC making its way onto the iPhone, so could the iPhone 6 finally be the phone where the rumors come true? Well we guess we’ll find out more on the 9th of September, so do check back with us then for the details!
