A year has passed since Twitter’s initial public offering. Time and again investors have wondered how the microblogging network is going to overcome its growth issues and start bringing in a good amount of revenue. With the major changes it has planned over the next few months Twitter intends to do just that. These changes will have a direct impact on how millions of people experience Twitter every single day.

Twitter mentioned these changes at its first Analyst Day in San Francisco. Even though it hasn’t provided a lot of details at this point in time, the company’s VP of Product Kevin Weil did talk about them in a post on the official blog.

Twitter is improving its Direct Message system to improve the personal messaging experience across the service. Weil said that several updates will make it easy to “take a public conversation private.” The first update for DMs will bring the ability to share and discuss tweets natively and privately through Direct Messages.

Next up is video sharing. Weil mentioned that an update will make it easier for users to record, edit and share videos natively, this will be separate from Vine, the six second looping videos service that Twitter owns and supports in timelines.

Users who follow a lot of people on Twitter and hate it when they miss out on tweets during the time offline will appreciate a feature that the company is working on. This feature will surface tweets relevant to that person and they’ll be from the time they were offline.

These are some of the changes that Twitter will be making over the coming months. It has more in store for us and will talk about that in detail when the time is right.
