chrome-updateMaterial Design is Google’s latest design language that they have chosen to use for Android. It is basically a flatter type of design with more solid colors and we have to admit that it is rather refreshing. Now Google’s apps on Android have largely been updated with Material Design, but for iOS apps, that’s only starting to come in.

The good news for Chrome users on iOS is that if you were looking forward to Material Design, you will be pleased to learn that Google has recently issued an update that will bring the Material Design look over to Chrome for iOS devices. Google has also updated Chrome for iOS that will make it compatible with OS X Yosemite’s Handoff feature.

For those unfamiliar with Handoff, it’s basically where you can pick up where you left off from your phone or tablet on the computer. So for example if you were surfing the web on your phone, you can walk over to your OS X Yosemite computer and hand it off, so that you can continue your browsing on the computer without having to start all over again or type in the URL.

It also works the other way around so if you’re about to leave the house, you can send the website over onto your phone and you can continue the browsing while on the move. That being said, Ars Technica has noted that Google still isn’t taking advantage of Apple’s Nitro JavaKit engine which is why Safari on iOS feels faster than Chrome, but hopefully this is something Google will include in future updates. In the meantime you can grab the latest version of Chrome from the iTunes App Store.
