whatsapp-voice-calling

We have been hearing about the WhatsApp voice calling feature since last year but it hasn’t been formally launched as yet. References to the feature have already been spotted so there’s little cause to believe that this is just a myth. If recent reports can be believed WhatsApp voice calling has actually going live for a few users. Screenshots that have appeared online lend weight to these reports.

Its not a matter of if but a matter of when voice calling will be activated on WhatsApp. The app’s founders have already confirmed that they’re indeed working on this feature so we can rest assured that it is coming, we just don’t know when.

Reddit user Pradnesh07 posted screenshots of WhatsApp voice calling in action. Apparently WhatsApp is testing it out with some users in India at this point. It goes without saying that one can easily fake screenshots like this but already there have been multiple reports about the feature being tested on a small scale.

It is not clear at this point in time if WhatsApp users are being invited to try out the new feature or if anyone can apply to take it for a spin. The reddit user says that Nexus 5 users running Lollipop were able to use the feature once they had received a call from him.

WhatsApp has still not said when its going to officially launch this feature. We’ll keep an eye on their blog.
