Recording gameplay videos on the Xbox One is no big deal as one can easily do that however its taking screenshots that’s not been possible. On the other hand PlayStation 4 owners can easily take a screenshot by simply pressing the Share button on the DualShock 4 controller for a few seconds. We found out last week that this functionality will soon be added to the Xbox One and today it has formally been confirmed that the Xbox One March update is going to bring this feature to the console.

The Xbox One March update has been released today for members of the Xbox One preview program. Everybody else will get the update next month.

Major Nelson writes on the Xbox Wire blog that the ability to take screenshots has been a highly requested feature by the community and after this update they will finally be able to do so.

A screenshot can be taken on the Xbox One by double-tapping the Xbox button on the controller and then pressing Y to save it. The “Xbox Take a Screenshot” voice command can also be used for the same result.

This upcoming software update for Xbox One will also give users the option to share their real name instead of just the gamertag with either their friends or the entire Xbox community. It will offer friend suggestions as well based on location and the existing friends list.
