HTC has teamed up with Verizon to entice people to purchase its latest flagship smartphone, which is merely an evolutionary update of last year’s flagship handset. Perhaps that’s one of the reasons why the company is finding it hard to sell as many One M9 units as it really needs to. It’s running a new promotion with Verizon through which One M9 customers are being offered $100 in Google Play credit.

The $100 Google Play credit can go a long way since it can be used to movies, TV shows, music, apps, games, books and much more. Essentially it’s a $100 discount on the overall cost of the device since you get to spend this money on other things.

Since HTC has teamed up with Verizon for this, the promotion is only available to those customers who purchase the handset from Verizon.

The company will also throw in the Uh Oh Protection plan which provides customers with no questions asked one-time coverage if the device is damaged.

Once the One M9 has been purchased from Verizon customers have to provide HTC with proof of purchase and additional information after which they will receive the $100 coupon code which must be added to the Google Wallet account before September 30th.

This promotion starts today and runs through August 31st.
