xbox-playstation-wall-e3-2013-bIt was recently that Sony boasted that they had a market share of anywhere between 70-90% in Europe. This is a mighty impressive figure and one that indicates that other console makers do not have the same pull. However it seems that over in China, it is a completely different story, according to a report from Games Industry.

The report cites numbers from analyst firm Niko Partners who claims that the between the PS4 and Xbox One, the total sales expected by the end of the year will only reach a combined 550,000 units. Safe to say this pales in comparison compared to other markets, especially when you consider that buying a PS4 and Xbox One in China is now legal, and let’s not forget the huge population of the country which could have easily resulted in millions of units sold.

Why is this happening, you ask? For starters it seems that the delayed launch of both consoles in the country are partly to blame. Secondly it also seems that price is an issue, and also China’s cultural office who needs to do a better job at approving more triple-A titles for a release in the country. China has been known to be rather particular about video games and censorship, which might explain why gamers in the country are hesitant to adopt the console.

After all what good is having the console if the games you want to play have been banned or heavily censored, right? In the meantime this does not bode well for Microsoft either as their Xbox One console also appears to be doing rather badly in Japan as well.
