ipad pro smart keyboardWhen Apple announced the iPad Pro, one of the features of the tablet is an optional accessory in the form of the Smart Keyboard. Presumably the “smart” name follows the naming scheme of Apple’s Smart Cover and Smart Case accessories for the other iPads. However interestingly enough, it seems that Apple might have something called the “Magic Keyboard” in the works.

This is according to a report from MacRumors who spotted that Apple had registered several domains with “magic keyboard” in the name. This includes “applemagickeyboard.com”, “applemagickeyboard.net”, and “applemagickeyboards.com”. It is possible that Apple might simply be trying to protect the Smart Keyboard brand by registering likely alternatives.

However at the same time, the term “magic” has been used in other Apple products in the past, like the Magic Mouse and the Magic Trackpad, so a Magic Keyboard might not necessarily be such a stretch of the imagination. MacRumors also points to the fact that last month, an FCC filing was made for an Apple wireless keyboard.

Based on the FCC filing, it looks nothing like the Smart Keyboard so it is possible we could be looking at a revamped keyboard. Either way we’ll try not to read into it so much but perhaps we will learn more about this alleged device in the coming months and possibly during the 21.5-inch 4K iMac’s launch.
