Looking for a handcrafted leather wallet for someone’s birthday? Maybe an engraved quill for your calligraphy needs? Or maybe just some pieces of artwork? Chances are Etsy will be your destination of choice. However unlike more established and commercial sites like Amazon, Etsy’s shipping won’t be as fast.
The good news is that will soon change. The retailer has recently partnered up with Postmates and they will begin trialing same-day and next-day delivery options for those living in New York City. Of course this will also depend on whether or not the seller is based in New York themselves, and if they are, buyers can see the “Etsy ASAP” option when purchasing.
This will also result in an increase in shipping price of $20, so if you think that the speedy delivery is worth the extra $20, then by all means go for it. Of course this will depend on what you’re purchasing. There are some items on Etsy that are made-to-order so safe to say that those won’t have same-day delivery options.
This option will no doubt help Etsy compete with other online retailers. Recently Amazon appears to be challenging Etsy with their own “Handmade” section so by introducing a same-day delivery option, perhaps it will encourage customers to stick with them.
