If you a fan of the horror/slasher genre, safe to say that despite the Friday the 13th franchise being really old, it is considered to be a staple and one of the classics. Now if you’re wondering what it would be like to play a game based on Friday the 13th, you’re in luck because a Kickstarter campaign has been launched to help fund one.

The game was originally dubbed Summer Camp and was meant to be an homage to the movie franchise. However they were later approached by Sean Cunningham, the movie’s creator who pretty much offered them the video game license, thus leading the game to be officially renamed (legally).

So what is the game about? You could think of Friday the 13th as similar to Evolve. One player gets to be Jason Voorhees, the main bad guy in the game, and seven other players will be playing as the counselors at Camp Crystal Lake who will be attempting to flee from Jason’s murderous rampage.

It sounds like a very interesting approach to the game and genre. The Kickstarter campaign is hoping to raise as much as $700,000 where the game will be made for the likes of the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the PC. If you’d like to see this game made a reality, head on over to its Kickstarter page for the details.
