galaxy-view-1

Earlier this year Samsung teased that it will launch a truly massive tablet called the Galaxy View, just yesterday the company officially unveiled the device, and confirmed much of its specifications. The tablet is purely meant for those who want a portable TV of sorts, it has a giant 18.4 inch display and a user interface that puts content services front and center. Samsung has now confirmed the pricing and release date for the Galaxy View.

By no means is this tablet an Android powerhouse, it has a rather modest 1.6GHz octacore processor with 2GB RAM and is available with 32GB of internal storage, though microSD support is onboard. The tablet’s 18.4 inch full HD display is probably its biggest selling feature.

Galaxy View comes with Android 5.1.1 installed straight out of the box and will receive an update to Marshmallow at some point, connectivity features include Bluetooth 4.1 and 802.11ac Wi-Fi. The 5,700mAh battery promises 8 hours of video playback.

Samsung has confirmed now that the Wi-Fi only version of this tablet is going to be sold for $599 in the United States and that it will be released on November 6th. The company has also confirmed that a carrier in the country will also be selling an LTE-enabled model, though pricing and release date or the carrier for that matter hasn’t been revealed yet.
