It has long been rumored that Samsung has a new smartphone in the pipeline which comes with a foldable display, it will be unlike any other smartphone that the company offers right now. Earlier this month it was reported that foldable smartphones of both LG and Samsung are now in the final stages of development, a new report now claims that the Samsung smartphone with foldable display is likely to arrive in January.

January is also the month in which Samsung is rumored to unveil the Galaxy S7, possibly carrying on with the precedent it has set with the Galaxy Note 5, the new phablet was announced a couple of weeks before IFA 2015. The IFA conference has historically been the place where new Note handsets are announced.

Samsung usually unveils new Galaxy S series models at the Mobile World Congress which takes place every year in March, it really won’t surprise anyone if the company decides to launch the Galaxy S7 before the event begins in March next year.

Today’s report suggests that the handset will be released in the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, France, Poland and Nordic countries initially aside from South Korea. It’s interesting to note that the United States hasn’t been mentioned as a launch market for the foldable smartphone, perhaps it may arrive at some point later next year.

So far Samsung has not confirmed anything related to this much rumored foldable smartphone, we can expect it to start teasing the new handset by December if a January launch really is on the cards.
