flex-2-review-10The closest thing we have gotten to a phone with a foldable display is probably the Galaxy S6 Edge, where the displays are curved but yet remain completely functional. We have seen some prototypes of foldable displays in the past but none of them have made it to the market, so like we said, the Galaxy S6 Edge with its curved displays is probably the closest so far.

However according to reports out of Korea, it seems that both LG and Samsung are getting pretty close to completing their projects for foldable phones. If all goes according to plan, it is possible that come 2016 we could be looking at phones with foldable displays from both LG and Samsung.

This isn’t the first time we have heard such rumors. Earlier this year we have heard rumors that Samsung was working on a phone with a foldable display codenamed Project Valley. LG themselves were also rumored to be working on mass producing foldable displays, but unfortunately it was unclear as to how far along both companies were in their endeavors.

With this set of rumors, it would seem to suggest that they are pretty close. Chances of it being a flagship phone is pretty slim. To date we have not heard any rumors of the Galaxy S7 or the LG G5 packing foldable displays, so if they were to release a foldable smartphone, we might be looking at a limited edition run similar to the Galaxy Note Edge just to test the waters first.

Either way take it with a grain of salt for now, but how does the idea of foldable smartphones sound to you?
