google-glass-2.0When Google announced that they would be ending the first-gen Glass wearable, they were also quick to announce that a new one would be in the works. However recently Google has made some changes that has us questioning the future of the project, namely when they started closing all social media accounts that are related to the project.

It was recently discovered that all social media accounts, like those on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Google+ were no longer active, as first reported by the folks at 9to5Google. There was a statement left on their Google+ page which reads, “Hi Explorers, we’ve had a blast hanging out with you on G+ throughout the Explorer Program.”

As to why Google decided to close its social media accounts, no one can say why. When asked to comment, Google had declined to do so, leaving many wondering as to why this has happened, and if there are might more serious implications behind it. In any case maybe there is a chance that Google will revive its social media accounts once the new Glass headset is launched.

The new Google Glass is said to be led by Nest’s (and former Apple executive) Tony Fadell. No word on when that will be, but hopefully we will learn more at Google I/O which will be taking place in the later part of May.
