life-of-pablo-piracyKanye West’s The Life of Pablo album was originally supposed to be a Tidal exclusive for a week, but some reason, the musician decided that he would make the exclusivity permanent and not even offer it up for sale on iTunes. While West has a ton of fans, he has his fair share of detractors who took this opportunity to troll him by downloading pirated copies of his album.

Some were brazen enough to post proof of their actions online, but maybe that wasn’t such a good idea because according to reports, it seems that West is mulling the idea of taking legal action against those who pirated his latest album. This is according to the HollywoodLife who had a source tell them about the possible lawsuit.

According to their source, “Kanye is going to meet with his legal team to discuss the possibilities of starting legal action against torrent site Pirate Bay … He’s going to talk to his lawyers and see where he stands, and hopefully Tidal will partner up with him in any legal proceedings because it was supposed to be an exclusive release. He certainly feels he has a case, with the two factors he’s mulling over being copyright infringement and loss of earnings.”

Whether or not West will be successful remains to be seen. There have been many instances in the past where people have been sued, and piracy websites have been taken down, but if anything it has barely made a dent in the piracy scene. If anything, it seemed to spur pirates on especially during the time when The Pirate Bay got taken down, only to have multiple copies of the website spring up in its aftermath.
