Dark Souls 3 is just around the corner and fans of this franchise are anxious to start playing the new title. There was a bit of speculation yesterday regarding a bonus for those who pre-order Dark Souls 3. It was said that everybody who pre-orders the game will get a copy of backwards compatible Dark Souls free for Xbox One. Major Nelson has just confirmed this pre-order bonus.

With Dark Souls 3 players can expect to be immersed into a world of epic atmosphere and darkness through intense gameplay and increased combat intensity. Standard and deluxe versions of Dark Souls 3 are now available for pre-order. Deluxe edition includes the game and the season pass.

For a limited time, customers who purchase a digital pre-order of Dark Souls 3 on Xbox One Store will get the original Dark Souls for Xbox One. That title was originally released for Xbox 360 but thanks to the backwards compatibility feature of the new console, it works with Xbox One as well now.

Customers who purchase a digital download will get the original title via a code within ten days of their purchase. Those who already own the original Dark Souls will be able to get the digital copy for Xbox One free since they own the title already, and it’s compatible with the new console now.

Dark Souls 3 comes out April 12th, 2016.
