soundcloud-sonySoundCloud, the popular audio library, can be considered to have filled up its proverbial cap with feathers, having come to an agreement with Sony Music. In other words, SoundCloud has agreements in place with all of the major labels out there.

This is in line with what SoundCloud has been doing earlier on, where in January, SoundCloud and Universal Music Group arrived at an agreement concerning a licensing deal, and their deal with Sony Music Entertainment would complete the trilogy of major labels under their belt. The first agreement was made in 2014 in its licensing deal with Warner Music Group, while introducing 20,000 indie labels in summer last year after coming to an agreement concerning royalty terms with Merlin.

With this latest development in place, it also seems as though SoundCloud would want to lock down licensing agreements since it had been scrutinized before for hosting songs that did not conform to copyright laws. It was also mentioned that “the introduction of subscription services in the US and other markets later this year,” although any other further information or details were not provided. If you are a music lover and jive alongside SoundCloud, surely this latest development would be music to your ears – pun not intended. [Press Release]
