Nowadays everything seems to be getting smarter. From our phones, our computers, our cars, and even things we didn’t think needed to get smarter like our coffee machines and alarm clocks. This is why it isn’t surprising to see even the humble backpack start to get a smart upgrade, like the BackPAIX.

One the surface the BackPAIX looks like a regular, but stylish-looking backpack. It has compartments for you to store things like your laptop, your books, and so on, but it also comes with channels designed to store charging cables and even one for shoes, but one of the coolest features of the BackPAIX would be its smart badge.

This is a badge on the front flap of the backpack that can light up and display a variety of images formed using LED lights. For example it can be used to display emojis to show your current mood. It can also be used to display a bicycle logo when you’re cycling so that people know that you’re there.

It even features a buzzer so that when it detects the bag is out of range, it will begin to buzz to let people know that it has been left behind/stolen. Unfortunately the badge is part of the bag for now, but its creators are looking at the possibility of maybe creating a standalone badge one day. In any case if you’re interested in checking it out, head on over to its Kickstarter page for the details.
