Many gamers have no doubt been waiting for the next Resident Evil installment, and last we heard, Capcom had told gamers to “stay tuned”. However last month there were rumors that the game could be announced at E3 and sure enough the rumors did not disappoint as Resident Evil 7 biohazard has been officially announced.

According to a post on the Capcom blog, this will be the latest installment in the Resident Evil franchise and one that many gamers have wait for. Capcom’s post reads, “While Resident Evil 7 draws from the series’ roots of atmospheric survival horror, it also delivers a whole new level of terror. In the classic Resident Evil games of yesteryear, players braced for fear in the first-person via the creepy door-opening scenes, and Resident Evil 7 ramps up that tension with an immersive first-person view and a photorealistic graphical style.”

As if to make it even scarier, Capcom announced that Resident Evil 7 will be playable on VR via the Sony PlayStation VR, which we guess isn’t surprising considering that it was Sony who made the announcement during their E3 presentation. Apparently gamers will be able to enjoy the game in its entirety in VR from start to finish.

In terms of availability, the demo will be open to PlayStation Plus subscribers, although this is for the “normal” version of the game. The game has been pegged for a release come 24th of January, 2017, so we still have a bit of waiting, but in the meantime you can check out its trailer in the video above.
