lg payWe have been hearing rumors and reports that LG will be launching their own mobile payments solution called LG Pay. Unlike other mobile payment platforms such as Apple Pay, Android Pay, or Samsung Pay that will rely on smartphones, LG Pay will differ as it will rely on a physical card.

The platform was rumored about since 2015, and with it skipping MWC 2016, we have to wonder what has become of it. Unfortunately for those who are looking forward to learning more about LG Pay, you might have a bit more waiting to do. According to the rumors, word has it that LG Pay has been delayed to 2017, meaning that you won’t be hearing or seeing the new service launch this year.

Apparently LG Pay was meant to debut alongside the LG V20, but development of the physical card, also known as the White Card, prevented that from happening. It has also been suggested that LG has yet to file for regulatory approval for their new payment platform, which means that it could still be a while.

No word on when exactly in 2017 will we see the platform launch, but with CES and MWC taking place in the early part of the year, hopefully we will learn more then. If not it will really be anyone’s guess.
