It is unclear as to what is happening with the AirPods at the moment. It has been delayed, that much we know, but to when exactly is unclear. Some have speculated that it could have been due to technical issues which could see Apple miss the Christmas shopping season, but now we hear that there is a chance it could arrive in time for the holidays.According to well-connected journalist John Gruber (via AppleInsider), it seems that he has learnt that the AirPods could actually be launched in time for the holidays, and that they could actually be released in the next few days. This is versus previous reports that suggest that we might only be seeing the headphones launched in 2017.
According to Gruber, “They are getting very close to missing the holidays.I have heard just in the last 24 hours, not from like a very well placed little birdie but from a birdie, that there’s a possibility, that there are whispers in Apple, among people who work at Apple retail, that they might actually come in ‘the next few days.'”
AppleInsider notes that Gruber’s information is in line with what their sources have told them as well. Given Gruber and AppleInsider’s track record, there is a chance that their information could be spot on. Either way don’t get your hopes up just yet, but we’ll definitely keep an eye out for more information.
