Netflix has made some great original content that has proven to be a hit and has brought in a significant number of new subscribers for the online video streaming service. House of Cards is one such original series. Fans are anxiously waiting for the fifth season to arrive and they will be delighted to find out that Netflix has finally confirmed the House of Cards season 5 release date.

Details are slim at this point in time so it’s unclear how the plot of the new season is going to take shape, particularly after the events of the fourth season. Don’t worry, I won’t spoil it for you.

What we do know is that House of Cards creator Beau Willimon is going to hand over his duties as showrunner to Melissa James Gibson and Frank Pugliese who will now be the co-showrunners for House of Cards season 5.

Netflix has released a small teaser which confirms the House of Cards season 5 release date. While it doesn’t reveal any actual footage from the new season itself, it does show us an American flag flying upside down while a very ominous rendition of the Pledge of Allegiance is received by a group of children off-camera.

House of Cards season 5 is going to be released on May 30th, 2017. As is the case with Netflix’s original series, all episodes of the new season will be released at once.
