For the longest time ever, Samsung has typically either relied on its Exynos chipsets or Qualcomm’s chipsets for its smartphone and tablet offerings. However it seems that is changing because according to a recently sighted benchmark, a mysterious Samsung device with a MediaTek chipset was discovered.

Now MediaTek is not a small player in the chipset industry as they have supplied quite a bit of components to Chinese OEMs, but like we said it’s interesting as Samsung has been known more for using Exynos and Qualcomm chipsets. The MediaTek chipset in question is of the octa-core variety and clocked at 2.3GHz with the model number MT6757.

As for the rest of the specs, we’re looking at a 5.7-inch Full HD display, 3GB of RAM, an ARM Mali-T880 GPU, 32GB of storage, a 12MP rear-facing camera, a 12MP front-facing camera, and Android 7.0 Nougat running the show. It sounds very much like a mid-range handset and based on the model number, SM-G615F, some have speculated that it could be the 2017 version of the Samsung Galaxy On7.

In any case Samsung will be hosting a press conference at MWC 2017, so perhaps we will learn more about this mysterious handset then, so check back with us then for the details.
