Long before the Galaxy S8 was made official on March 29, it was rumored that Samsung was going to introduce a dual camera system on the back with its new flagship smartphone. We all know that this didn’t happen. The Galaxy S8 doesn’t feature a dual camera system. Many believe that the Galaxy Note 8 will be the first smartphone from Samsung with such a camera system but a new report from China suggests that this may not be the case.

A recent leak suggests that there might have been some truth to those rumors about a Galaxy S8 with dual camera on the back. Some pictures of a purported Galaxy S8+ prototype were leaked online recently which showed the handset with a dual camera on the back.

Samsung may have experimented with the idea for the Galaxy S8 before deciding against it. So it goes without saying that it might be thinking of launching it with the Galaxy Note 8 as well.

However, the report claims that the Galaxy Note 8 is not going to be the first smartphone from Samsung with a dual camera system. It doesn’t specify which device is going to be the first then, perhaps it might be the much-rumored foldable Galaxy X smartphone from Samsung.

Some reports suggest that the Galaxy X might be launched before the Galaxy Note 8 this year. The report obviously doesn’t say that the Galaxy Note 8 won’t have a dual camera on the back, just that it may not be the first handset from Samsung to tout it.
