We know that DC has several movies in the works based on characters in its comics universe. We’ve already gotten Superman, Wonder Woman, and towards the end of the year we can also expect the Aquaman film. Then there is also the standalone Batman movie, Flash movie, and also the Cyborg movie which is still several years away from release.

There is also a “Shazam!” movie, for those who have been following the news, and the good news is that it looks like the movie has finally and officially entered into production. For those unfamiliar, the Shazam! movie was announced a while back, and the fact that it has entered into production is a good sign since it means that we’re one step closer to seeing it released, which last we heard was set for the 19th of April, 2019.

Actor Zachary Levi, best known for his role in the “Chuck” TV series and also as Fandral in Thor: The Dark World and Thor: Ragnarok, in which he was pretty unrecognizable, will be cast as Shazam. He will also star alongside Asher Angel who will be playing the role of Billy Batson, a young boy who transforms into a superhero by shouting the word “Shazam!”

It was initially reported that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson would be starring in the movie as the villain Black Adam. However it was later revealed that this would not be the case, and that Black Adam will apparently be getting his own movie with Johnson starring as the supervillain.
