Following the allegations leveled at actor Kevin Spacey last year, it seemed like Netflix series “House of Cards” was in jeopardy, where at one point in time it was suggested that the series would be cancelled. However thankfully this wasn’t the case as Netflix decided to proceed with the final season which would not be starring Spacey.

Production on the series and final season resumed earlier this year and now it looks like a teaser trailer for the upcoming season has been revealed. As what Netflix had initially promised, the series would move forwards without Spacey and would feature Robin Wright in the lead role (she plays as the wife of Spacey’s character in the series).

In fact based on what we saw in the trailer, it looks like Wright’s character is implied to be the possible new President of the United States, but we’ll have to wait and find out. As for how they plan on explaining Spacey’s sudden exit from the show, we’ll have to wait as well. However given that the series always ensured that Wright’s character had her own agenda to pursue, her transitioning to the main role wouldn’t really be that surprising or jarring for viewers.

The final season of House of Cards will only run for eight episodes versus the previous seasons that had 13. A release date has yet to be set for the final season save for a vague “fall” launch.
