Xiaomi might not necessarily be the company you think of when it comes to smart home products, but given that the company makes all kinds of products ranging from smartphones, computer, air purifiers, humidifiers, and more, we suppose it’s not really a stretch to think that they might expand into smart home gadgets.

The good news is that if you were thinking of equipping your home with a Xiaomi smart home device or if you already have, then you might be interested to learn that Xiaomi has announced that their devices will now play nicely with Google Assistant. This means that if you use a Google Assistant product, like an Android smartphone or Google Home, you will be able to control the Xiaomi devices through it.

According to Xiaomi, “As we seek to bring even more convenience to our users around the world, we understand that deepening our collaboration with partners is key. With this goal in mind, Xiaomi announced during Google I/O 2018 that our smart home products will now work with the Google Assistant, allowing users to control products through a smart speaker, like the Google Home, or with the Google Assistant app.”

The initially supported products will include the Mi Bedside Lamp, Mi LED Smart Bulb, and Mi Smart Plug, the latter of which is expected to find their way into the US market soon.
