Back in June during E3 2018, Nintendo officially announced Super Mario Party for the Nintendo Switch. Super Mario Party games have become common on Nintendo’s platforms so to see a version launch on the Switch didn’t really come as a surprise. In fact what would be surprising is if Nintendo skipped it entirely.

That being said, according a report from nextn.es (via Nintendo Everything), apparently the upcoming game will be playable only with the Joy-Con controllers. This means that if you have bought other controllers like the Switch Pro Controller or maybe a third-party controller, then you might not be able to play the game with those controllers.

It also means that if you don’t have enough Joy-Cons to go around, then you might need to get some extra if you’re hoping to host some Super Mario Party sessions at your house. That being said, this doesn’t really come as a surprise because just like 1-2 Switch, Super Mario Party will be a good way for Nintendo to show off what the Switch can do, so we imagine that there will be plenty of games that will involve the use of the Joy-Con and its sensors.

Either way we should find out soon enough as Super Mario Party is currently set for a release on the 5th of October in a couple of months.
