The ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean’ movie franchise is one that has been going on for a long time, and for the most part it has been extremely successful. However might it have gotten too long in the tooth? There are some who feel that the movies should have ended after the original trilogy, although we suppose we can’t blame Disney for wanting to milk it for all its worth.

That being said, it seems that the company might have decided that a reboot is necessary instead of just releasing new movies. A report from Deadline claims that Disney is exploring the idea of potentially rebooting the franchise and that they have met with writers Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick, who for those unfamiliar are the writers behind the first two Deadpool movies, so potentially the future Pirates movies could be injected with the same sense of humor.

Details about the potential reboot are scarce but Jerry Bruckheimer is expected to continue to serve as the producer for the franchise. It is also unclear as to whether the reboot will see the return of some characters, namely Jack Sparrow who is portrayed by Johnny Depp, although we wouldn’t be surprised if Disney were to start from scratch, casting included, to try and breathe new life into the franchise.
