Sharing your location with mapping apps isn’t new, and for the most part usually this is a static feature meaning that you share your current location only, and if you were to leave it will not update. However the good news for iOS users is that if you wanted a more dynamic way of sharing your location, Google Maps has been updated to do just that.

The feature had previously been available on Android but now with an update to the iOS version of the app, iOS users will be able to share their location which will be updated in real-time, as well as share their ETA. This means that if you want to let people know where you are and what time you might be arriving, this feature should provide users with a more accurate way of doing os.

According to Google, this can be used across various messaging platforms as well. “Today’s update also allows for sharing across 3rd party apps like Facebook Messenger, Line, WhatsApp, and more—so you can communicate with friends on the platforms you prefer. Once your journey ends, you’ll automatically stop sharing your location.”

The feature should already be live for iOS users so make sure that you have the latest version of Google Maps installed and you should be good to go.
