Battery life on Apple’s iPhones have never really been known to be particularly good. While they’re far from terrible, Apple’s iPhones aren’t known to have long-lasting battery life, and if you were hoping the iPhone Xs Max would prove the exception, it doesn’t really seem that way, especially in the video above.

The folks at PhoneBuff (known for their speed tests) have put together a video that tests the battery life of the iPhone Xs Max against that of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 to see how well it fares, and spoiler alert, the Note 9 absolutely crushes the iPhone Xs Max. We suppose this would have already been pretty obvious given that the Note 9 has a 4,000mAh battery while the iPhone Xs Max has a 3,174mAh battery.

However one could have made the argument that Apple choosing to use their own hardware and software could mean that they could optimized everything for each other, but at the end of the day, a larger battery capacity is hard to ignore and the results pretty much speak for themselves, where the iPhone Xs Max’s battery runs flat much earlier than that of the Galaxy Note 9.

That being said, there are a couple of things to take away from this video. One of those things is that your mileage may vary depending on how you use your phone, where if you use intensive apps such as games then obviously it would drain faster than if you were to use it for surfing and chatting. Also battery life is just one of the many considerations one would have to make when choosing a phone, and if you think that other factors like software are more important, then this shouldn’t really be too big of a deal.

Also if you’re already used to charging your phone once a day or if you’re the type to keep your device plugged in all day to the charger or a powerbank, then it probably won’t impact your usage too much, but it is an interesting comparison to make nonetheless.
