A couple of weeks ago, Instagram issued an update that seemed to sort of “break” the app for iPhone XR and XS Max users. Basically due to some compatibility and crashing issues, Instagram had to roll back to an older version of Xcode that they used to compile the app, which turn meant that the app was on longer optimized for Apple’s larger iPhones.

For users of those devices, it was a bit disconcerting because one moment everything seemed normal, and the next everything felt bigger and more zoomed in. However thankfully it looks like Instagram has since addressed the issue where they have issued yet another update where the app is now optimized for those iPhones again.

Instagram did not make any announcements of sorts but if you are an Instagram user and own either the iPhone XR and iPhone XS Max, you’ll notice that things look “small” again. Issues such as app compatibility have never really been a problem with Apple’s iPhones in the past where for the longest time ever, Apple kept to the same 3.5-inch display.

However in recent years Apple has actually upgraded its display several times, which meant that developers had to keep up with the changes. Instagram was actually one of the iPhone XR and XS Max’s early supporters, so it’s nice to see that things are back to “normal”.
