A couple of years ago it was announced that Netflix would be launching a reboot of the Carmen Sandiego animated series on its platform. The reboot is currently slated for a release later this month, and now it looks like the official trailer for the upcoming series has since been released, giving us a glimpse into what we can expect.
For those who are unfamiliar, Carmen Sandiego is a character from the franchise of the same name. It was started as a series of education mystery-based video games where players are tasked with using the clues they find to locate the mysterious Carmen Sandiego. In the animated series launching on Netflix, it will see the franchise being rebooted where it will provide a backstory to the character and introduce some additional ones as well.
It will star Gina Rodriguez as Carmen and Finn Wolfhard as Player and the series is expected to be launched come 18th of January, which coincidentally enough is also when Netflix’s second season of Marvel’s The Punisher will be launching as well. However note that this animated series won’t be Netflix’s only interest in the franchise.
It was also previously reported that the company had acquired the rights to a live-action Carmen Sandiego movie, although when exactly that movie will be launched remains to be seen. Until then we suppose this animated series will have to make do.
