Last year Apple introduced a new budget iPad with Apple Pencil support. The company later updated its iPad Pro lineup with a brand new design with Face ID, and if the rumors are true, Apple could be gearing up for an iPad refresh along with a long overdue refresh of the iPad mini.

The iPad mini was speculated to be discontinued as Apple focused on its iPad Pro lineup, but according to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, that will not be the case as the company is set to make several iPad related announcements this year, one of which is a refresh of the iPad mini and the budget iPad.

According to Kuo, his latest note pretty much reaffirms everything we are expecting for 2019. Kuo claims that Apple will be releasing two new iPad Pros later this year, presumably a refresh of last year’s models. He also expects Apple to launch an updated iPad which will be the successor to last year’s model, as well as the iPad mini.

From what we have heard, the iPad mini won’t be a huge refresh. While it has been many years since Apple launched the iPad mini, the upgrade apparently won’t be particularly significant, so maybe don’t get your hopes up just yet. However if you are a fan of the iPad mini’s size and portability, then having it updated to more modern hardware is still a good thing.
