Building on the success of Pokemon GO and the trend in augmented reality (AR) based games, Niantic revealed a couple of years ago that they were working on a new AR game similar to Pokemon GO. The main difference is that this game will be based on the Harry Potter franchise which would offer up similar gameplay, but in a new world and new settings.

Previously, there was no mention of when the game would be launching, but recent teasers have suggested that it wouldn’t be too far off. The good news is that if you have been looking forward to the game, you’ll be pleased to learn that Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will be officially launching on the 21st of June.

The game had previously rolled out in beta last month where it found its way to Australia and New Zealand, but now it looks like the company is ready for everyone else to enjoy it. This announcement was made at a press event held outside Universal Studios’ Wizarding World. Given how big the Harry Potter franchise is, we imagine that the game should be just as successful, if not more so, than Pokemon GO.

If you have been eagerly anticipating its release, then mark your dates for the 21st of June if you’d like to check it out.
