When it comes to brand deals with sports brands, it makes sense that these deals would be signed with more traditional athletes who might actually use their products. However, the definition of an athlete is starting to change these days, where pro gamers are being lumped into that category as well.

So much so that it seems that pro gamer, Ninja, has signed what could possibly be one of his biggest deals ever, and that is with Adidas. It also makes Ninja the first pro gamer that the company has signed to date. Speaking to Engadget, Adidas says that the deal with Ninja is the company’s way of showing their commitment and support of gaming culture, and “supporting creators who show dedication to excelling in their field.”

Adidas goes on to claim that they are planning on finding a way to support gamers around the world, although how exactly they’ll go about doing that remains to be seen. For those unfamiliar, Ninja is one of the more prolific gamers in recent times where he made a name for himself playing Fortnite Battle Royale.

The gamer recently made headlines by ditching Twitch to stream exclusively on Microsoft’s Mixer platform. He also apparently has his own toy line and is said to be paid as much as $1 million to stream games.
