The Resident Evil series of movies weren’t particularly well-received, at least based on the reviews, but they were still popular enough to turn a profit, which explains why there were so many movies being made out of the franchise. However, it seems that the studios are finally getting another chance to make things right.

In a report from Screen Rant, it has been revealed that a new Resident Evil movie could be in the works and that it could be a reboot of the series. The new movie(s) is said to be directed by Johannes Roberts, who for those unfamiliar is behind other titles such as 47 Meters Down and The Strangers: Prey at Night.

When asked about the movie, Roberts was quoted as saying, “We are in active development of that at the moment. I pitched them a take, and they really loved it. So, we are just gearing up on that as we speak, really. I’m in the office all the time there. So, yeah, it’s great. It’s gonna be super scary. It’s super, super scary. And it’s just getting back to the roots of the game. I think, at the moment, I’m not really allowed to say much more than that. But it’s gonna be a lot of fun.”

There is no word on when the movie will be released or who might have been cast or what kind of storyline it will be following, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
