When Apple unveiled the Apple Watch Series 5 last week, one of the device’s highlight features was the built-in compass. Now, Apple’s iPhones have long come with the feature, so it’s actually more of a surprise that Apple took this long to bring it to the Apple Watch, but we suppose better late than never.

However, it seems that if you do want to take advantage of the feature, you might want to avoid certain Apple Watch bands. This is because just like all compasses, its readings can be skewed or thrown off if it is placed near a magnet. As a result, Apple has actually warned users against using certain magnetic bands with the Apple Watch Series 5, at least that’s if you plan on making use of the new compass feature. This warning was found on Apple’s website in fine print.

It should be noted that some of Apple’s current bands use magnetics in its design. This includes the Milanese Loop, Modern Buckle, and Leather Loop. Also, if you use third-party Apple Watch bands, some might use magnets in its design as well, so you should keep an eye out for that to avoid any potential problems with it interfering with the compass feature.

The Apple Watch Series 5 is currently available for pre-order and is set for a release on the 20th of September.
