For a while now we have heard the rumors that Apple could be working on a new set of AirPods that could feature active noise cancellation. Then within the iOS 13.2 beta, it looked like the rumors were confirmed when a new set of AirPods icons were spotted, hinting at the device’s impending launch.

Now according to a report from China Economic Daily, it seems that the new AirPods could be launching soon. The report claims that the new devices will be known as the AirPods Pro, which seems to be in line with Apple’s new naming scheme where they are giving their products the “Pro” moniker.

The report also corroborates the claims that it will feature noise canceling, and it also hints that it could be more expensive as it might come priced at $260. For context, the current-gen AirPods are priced at $159, or $199 if you wanted the version with a wireless charging case. At $260, it represents a $100 jump and we’re not sure if Apple might be pricing themselves out of the market.

The general consensus is that the AirPods are useful and convenient, they aren’t necessarily the best-sounding set of earphones, so to pay $260 just for the added noise cancellation feature does make it seem a tad pricey. Take it with a grain of salt, but if true, we should have the official details soon enough.
