Last year following a successful attempt at crowdfunding on Indiegogo, Bose officially made its Sleepbuds earphones available for purchase. However, it seems that about a year later, Bose has announced that they will be discontinuing the earphones, claiming that battery issues are the reason for their decision.

In an email sent to customers, Bose explained the reason behind them discontinuing the device. Basically, customers have been complaining about their devices not charging properly and shutting down unexpectedly. However, despite Bose’s best efforts, it simply cannot be fixed through a software update. The company claims that the battery they chose simply did not work as consistently as they had hoped.

According to Bose general manager John Roselli, “For that reason, we’re discontinuing sleepbuds. We’ll go back to research, because we are committed to making our vision a reality. But today, we begin with something more important – doing whatever it takes to make things right with you.”

Bose will continue to honor the warranty on the Sleepbuds, but in case you’d rather not keep it, you’ll be able to return it back to Bose by the end of the year for a full refund. For more information, you can head on over to Bose’s website where you can begin to exchange or refund process.
