With Sony pretty much owning the movie rights to Spider-Man and all things Spider-Man related, many did wonder if Tom Holland’s Spider-Man could potentially star in Sony’s Venom movie. After all, both characters have clashed countless times in the comics and once in the movies.

However, that did not happen with the first movie, but according to a report from Fandom, it seems that Sony wants to make that happen. This is according to Venom director Ruben Fleischer who said that Sony is apparently looking to build towards a confrontation between both characters.

Fleischer was quoted as saying, “That’s where it’s all going to lead. And that’s the exciting thing, because we changed the origin of Venom … in the comics, he evolved from Spider-Man but because of the Marvel-Sony thing we weren’t able to that. And so the thing I think it’s building towards, and will be exciting to see, is when they actually do confront each other.”

Whether or not that will actually happen remains to be seen. This is because of how messy it could potentially be, where Spider-Man is currently on loan to Marvel and is part of the MCU, so if he does confront Venom, does that mean that Venom could potentially be in the MCU as well? Either way, it remains to be seen, but we have heard that Venom 2 has been confirmed.
