At the moment, Apple’s iPad Pros are offered in either an 11-inch version or a 12.9-inch version. Many have praised the larger displays as it is better for viewing media as well as drawing, but now a report suggests that either Apple could be planning on downsizing the larger iPad, or introducing a slightly smaller variant.

This is according to a report from DigiTimes who have heard from industry sources. The publication claims, “After upgrading its 9.7-inch iPad to 10.2-inch spec in 2019, Apple is set to release its new 12-inch iPad Pro model featuring a rear-end three-lens ToF 3D sensor in the spring, in a bid to boost its share of the global tablet market.”

It is unclear where this 12-inch iPad Pro could fit in the lineup. It seems unlikely that they will introduce a third iPad Pro model as the difference in the sizes will be too little to make it worth keeping so much inventory around. This means that if the report is true, then there is a chance that Apple could either drop the 12.9-inch model or the 11-inch model, giving customers the choice of either a 12-inch iPad Pro or a 12.9-inch iPad Pro.

That being said, it should be noted that DigiTimes does not have the best track record when it comes to Apple rumors, so it’s probably best to take it with a grain of salt for now. In the meantime, the publication had also previously claimed that Apple could be planning to announce an iPad Pro refresh in March.
