Safety is extremely important for bike riders, especially with the number of bike related accidents that happen every year. Granted, according to the NHTSA, that number seems to be decreasing, but that doesn’t mean that we should stop trying to be safe drivers on the road, and also cyclists should always try to keep themselves protected at all times.

To help with that, Ford has created a prototype jacket designed for cyclists that could potentially help keep them safe on the roads. This comes in the form of a jacket that comes with an LED display on the back that has the ability to display all kinds of information, such as emojis which can be used for fun.

However, there are also practical uses for the LED display on the back, where cyclists could use it as a way of indicating where they are planning to turn. It could also double as a hazard symbol, and more importantly, it illuminates the cyclist at night where sometimes in certain places, it might be too dark to see a cyclist on the road.

Unfortunately, there is no mention of whether or not Ford plans on making this jacket a reality. Ford has come up with all kinds of fun and crazy ideas in the past, so we wouldn’t be surprised if this is just another experiment, but it is still a good idea and hopefully someone else will turn it into an actual product even if Ford won’t.
