When it comes to dark mode, this is a theme more commonly found on our mobile devices rather than computers. However, this doesn’t mean that a dark mode on desktop isn’t useful. In fact, it appears that Google is actually testing out such a feature for its desktop version of its search services.

With this dark mode, Google will change the background of its search page and results to black, while also changing the color of text and links to help them stand out better. Everything else remains the same, so it’s mostly just a change on the surface. Given that this is being tested, it is unclear when it might find its way to the general population, and if you could even schedule it like you would on your phone.

As it stands, Google doesn’t own many webpages that have a dark mode. YouTube is one of them, but for the most part, Google doesn’t really offer a dark mode for its other products and services. You could change your Gmail theme to a dark one, but we’re not really sure if that qualifies as being dark mode.

It’s an interesting addition and might be appealing to some users who work in dimly-lit rooms and can appreciate not having a glaring white background while they work.
