The Apple TV remote has seen some design and functionality changes over the years, with the latest model sporting a touchpad design that allows for quicker navigation and also makes it useful for playing games. However, it seems that Apple could actually be developing a newer model.

According to a report from 9to5Mac, they have heard from their sources that Apple is apparently developing a new remote control for the Apple TV. This remote has the codename B519 which is different from the current model B439, although the naming schemes are somewhat similar so at the very least, we know that this model is part of the Apple TV’s remote family.

That being said, not much is known about this particular model and what kind of changes Apple could be making to it. As it stands, the current remote designed for the Apple TV 4K is more or less the same as the previous model, except that it has a white ring around the Menu button to help differentiate it from its predecessor. Functionality wise, they’re pretty much the same.

There have been reports of a new remote dating back to 2020 where a report from Bloomberg claims that this new remote could feature an updated control that will work with the “Find My” app, as well as a new chip that will make it faster.
