According to the rumors, Apple is said to be working on their own tracking accessory called the AirTags. However, Samsung beat Apple to the punch when they launched the SmartTag which was introduced alongside the Galaxy S21 series. Now it looks like Samsung has beaten Apple to the punch again with the Galaxy SmartTag+.

Now, the original SmartTag felt more like the Tile Bluetooth tracking accessory, which is fine, although it would have given Apple the advantage because according to the rumors, Apple’s AirTags would utilize UWB technology that would offer more precise tracking. However, with the SmartTag+, Samsung has included the same technology ahead of Apple’s announcement.

The SmartTag+ will also be able to leverage the use of augmented reality technology, where with the AR Finder Tool on Samsung’s smartphone, you’ll be able to locate your item in a new and different way. There is also support for detection not just in your proximity, but also if it is located far away from you.

We have no idea how this accessory will fare in real life, but if anything, it should help clue us in as to what Apple’s own tracking accessory could be like. For those who are interested, the Samsung Galaxy SmartTag+ will be going on sale April 16 and will be priced at $40.
