Last year, Apple introduced their new M1 powered 13-inch MacBook Pro laptops, but it also begged the question of what happened to Apple’s 16-inch MacBook Pro? Obviously Apple will be giving it an update. An earlier rumor suggested that it might actually be unveiled at WWDC 2021, which analysts now believe to be true as well.

According to Wedbush’s Dan Ives, he believes that Apple could not only unveil an upgraded 16-inch MacBook Pro laptop at WWDC 2021, but they could also finally introduce a new 14-inch model. The 14-inch MacBook Pro model has been rumored about for a while, and many have wondered if it could replace the 13-inch model.

It seems a bit odd that Apple would introduce an upgraded 13-inch model if they plan to replace it less than a year later, but at the same time, having three different sizes would be confusing to customers, not to mention it would cost Apple more money to produce more SKU configurations, but either way we’ll have to wait and see.

What’s going to be interesting is to see what chipset Apple could use for its newer MacBook Pros. The 16-inch model has always been the more powerful of the MacBook Pro series, so obviously the current M1 chipset won’t cut it. Either way, WWDC 2021 is kicking off next week so we should have all the details then, if there are any to be had.
