Apple recently announced that they will be hosting an event next week. They’re calling it the Unleashed event where it is largely speculated that the event will see Apple finally introduce new 14-inch and 16-inch redesigned MacBook Pros, but it turns out that there could be more to the event.

According to a post on Weibo by leakster PandaIsBald, the event will also see Apple finally announce their third-gen AirPods. It should be noted that the AirPods 3 have been rumored about for a while now, where some expected it at the iPhone event but that obviously did not pan out.

It’s odd that Apple might choose to use this event to announce the AirPods 3 simply because the earphones are usually seen more as an iPhone accessory rather than for the Mac. This isn’t to say they can’t be used with Mac computers, but they’re usually associated with the iPhone.

However, perhaps there are production issues related to the global chip shortage that could have delayed the production of the earphones, which is why Apple might have chosen not to announce it so early to prevent customers from waiting for too long before they are able to order it. Either way, we’ll find out next week, so check back with us then for the details.
