Given that one of the selling points of the AirPod is its tight integration with iOS devices like the iPhone, thanks to its quick and easy pairing, many had anticipated that the company would have announced the third-gen AirPods at the iPhone event. Obviously that did not happen, which begs the question of when can we expect the device now?

For those who are in desperate need of an upgrade, you might be interested to learn that a report from DigiTimes has revealed that the company still plans on launching it by the end of the year.

Apple is rumored to be planning another event this month where they are expected to announce new MacBook Pros as well as unveil an upgraded version of its M1 chipset, so it stands to reason that the company could use the event to also announce the new AirPods 3 true wireless earphones.

Alternatively, the company could also just launch them without any fanfare through the Apple Store, but either way we’ll have to keep an eye out for it. The AirPods 3 have been rumored to feature a new design to make them more similar in looks to the AirPods Pro, with a shorter stem, a universal tip design, and a more compact wireless charging case.
