This year, Apple finally refreshed their AirPods with a new model that featured an updated design and case. However, it still lacked some of the features of the more expensive AirPods Pro, which is why we imagine that there are some users who are probably holding out for the next update.

For those who are hoping to see a third-gen AirPods Pro, you could be in for a wait. According to a tweet by @FrontTron, they claim that the AirPods Pro is now set for a possible launch in the third quarter of 2022. The tweet initially claimed that it would arrive in Q2 2022, but it has now changed to Q3 2022.

Given that Apple’s iPhones are usually launched in the third quarter of the year, it makes sense that the company might choose to use the iPhone event to announce the new earphones. Right now, not much is known about the third-gen AirPods Pro. It will most likely continue to retain active noise-cancelling technology, but we’re not sure what else about it could make it an improvement over the current model.

Maybe it could feature a newer design that would make it more comfortable to wear, or maybe Apple could be looking to bundle health features into it. The company had previously stated that they do see potential in AirPods with health tracking, but whether or not this translates into something more concrete in time for the third-gen model remains to be seen.
